Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum): Large deciduous tree, 5-lobed leaves with brilliant fall color. Maple syrup source. Prefers cool, moist well-drained soil. Slow growth. Bonsai: formal upright, slanting, cascade. High frost tolerance, low heat tolerance.
